  • Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites You will spend a dedicated day exploring centuries-old architecture and profound spirituality. This includes tracing ancient history at Kathmandu Durbar Square, walking among the playful residents of the hilltop Swayambhunath Stupa (The Monkey Temple), and spinning prayer wheels at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest spherical stupas in the world.
  • Witnessing the Sacred Evening Aarti at Pashupatinath On the banks of the sacred Bagmati River, you will witness the deeply moving Sandhya Aarti (evening light ritual) at Pashupatinath Temple. The sight of burning oil lamps, chanting priests, and devotional music offers an unforgettable glimpse into living Hindu traditions.
  • Panoramic Himalayan Sunrise from SarangkotWaking up early in Pokhara, a short drive takes you to the Sarangkot Viewpoint ($1,600\text{ m}$). As dawn breaks, you will watch the sun cast a golden glow across the towering Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, and the iconic, fishtail-shaped peak of Machhapuchhre ($6,993\text{ m}$).
  • Peaceful Boating on Phewa Lake Unwind with a tranquil wooden boat ride across the calm waters of Phewa Lake. On a clear afternoon, the lake creates a flawless mirror reflection of the snow-capped mountains. You will also stop right in the middle of the lake to visit the island shrine of Tal Barahi Temple.
  • Exploring Pokhara’s Geological Wonders Discover the dramatic natural landscape of the lake city by visiting Devi’s Falls, where a roaring stream drops into a deep underground tunnel. Just across the street, you can descend into Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, a mystical limestone cavern housing a sacred Shiva shrine right next to the roaring subterranean waterfall.
  • Deep Jungle Jeep Safari in Chitwan Trade the alpine mountain air for the lush, subtropical lowlands of Chitwan National Park, Nepal's first protected biosphere. Boarding an open-top 4x4 jeep, you will venture deep into the Sal forests to track endangered wildlife in their natural habitat.
  • Spotting One-Horned Rhinos & Royal Bengal Tigers Chitwan is one of the world's best sanctuaries for seeing the rare Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros roaming freely. Keep your camera ready and your eyes peeled—if luck is on your side, you may even catch a rare glimpse of the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger.
  • Canoeing Down the Rapti River Drift quietly downstream in a traditional hand-carved dugout canoe along the Rapti River. This peaceful morning safari gets you incredibly close to sunbathing Gharials (the rare, thin-snouted fish-eating crocodiles), Marsh Muggers, and dozens of species of vibrant migratory birds.
  • Tharu Village Walk & Vibrant Stick Dance Immerse yourself in the distinct culture of the indigenous Tharu people, who have inhabited the lowlands for centuries. You will enjoy a guided walk through their traditional mud-and-thatch villages and spend an evening watching the energetic Tharu Stick Dance, a mesmerizing display of rhythm and heritage
  • The Scenic Drive Along the Trishuli River The journeys between the cities are highlights in themselves. Driving along the winding Prithvi and Siddhartha highways offers window views of rural Nepal, roaring white-water rivers like the Trishuli, tiered emerald rice terraces, and bustling roadside markets.

Trip Overview

The 8-Day Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan Safari Tour is an exquisite, classic introduction to the diverse soul of Nepal. Balancing rich cultural heritage, majestic mountain scenery, and raw wilderness, this trip takes you seamlessly through three of the country's most iconic and contrasting destinations. Designed as an easy-paced but deeply rewarding journey, it is perfect for families, couples, and first-time travelers looking to experience the absolute highlights of the Himalayas without strenuous trekking.

Your journey starts in the chaotic, mystical valley of Kathmandu, often called the "City of Gods." Here, you will step back in time while exploring ancient, centuries-old shrines and bustling bazaars. Over the course of your cultural exploration, you will wander through UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the ancient courts of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the towering Buddhist dome of Boudhanath Stupa, and the sacred Hindu shrines at Pashupatinath on the banks of the Bagmati River.

Leaving the urban history behind, the tour journeys into the "Lake City" of Pokhara, Nepal’s ultimate natural amphitheater. Framed by the towering, snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna range and the sharp silhouette of Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Pokhara is all about serene relaxation and mountain views. From a peaceful afternoon boat ride on Phewa Lake to a breathtaking, early morning sunrise from the hilltop of Sarangkot, this portion of the trip showcases the incredible physical scale and beauty of the Himalayan landscape.

The grand finale brings a complete change of pace and climate as you drop down into the subtropical lowlands of Chitwan National Park. As Nepal’s oldest and most famous wildlife reserve, Chitwan is a sanctuary for rare and endangered species. Here, you will trade mountain views for jungle canopies, embarking on thrilling jeep safaris, guided nature walks, and tranquil dugout canoe rides along the Rapti River. Keep your eyes sharp for a chance glimpse of the royal Bengal tiger, the prehistoric gharial crocodile, and the rare, armored one-horned rhinoceros.

Throughout the eight days, this thoughtfully curated itinerary blends private ground transfers, guided excursions, and comfortable accommodations to ensure a seamless experience. Beyond the landscapes and wildlife, the tour places a beautiful emphasis on cultural immersion. From sharing a welcome meal in the vibrant streets of Thamel to witnessing the traditional stick dances of the indigenous Tharu community in Chitwan, you will leave Nepal with a deep, holistic connection to both its nature and its people.

Flight & Transport Information

For your 8-day Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan Safari Tour, your intercity travel is seamlessly organized using a time-saving blend of short domestic flights and relaxing highway travel. For the ground legs—such as the scenic drive connecting Pokhara to the lowland jungles of Chitwan—you will travel in a modern, comfortable tourist bus or private air-conditioned coach. Featuring spacious reclining seats, onboard suspension built for Nepal's highways, and large windows perfect for photographing cascading rivers and terraced hillsides, this transport mix ensures you arrive at your wildlife safaris and mountain viewpoints feeling entirely refreshed.

The Manaslu trek is incomparable. It's suitable as a first trek in the Himalayas — plenty of time for acclimatisation and such captivating views that spending time on "altitude sickness" would be a pity. And it's a special pleasure to walk with Krishna. He is a knowledgeable, reliable and brave guide, and a very pleasa…
