Langtang Valley Trek. It is very important to explore the Langtang Valley with breathtaking sunrise views from Tserko-Ri as well as Tamang and Hyolmo culture during the 12-day Langtang Valley Trek. The trek highlights the superb views of the Langtang range among other peaks such as Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Naya Kang, Dorje Lakpa, Gaanchenpo, and Annapurna.

The east-west Langtang Valley lies between the Langtang Himal and the Kangjala. We will have a scenic drive from Kathmandu that leads to the large village of Dhunche. The trail passes between ridges and tributaries along with villages to Thangshyap. As you explore the Langtang National Park, you will trek through the rhododendron forests. This sanctuary is home to various rare wildlife including Red Pandas, Ghorals, Musk Deers, and Himalayan Tahrs, and so on. Overview

The trek highlights the superb views of the Langtang range among other peaks such as Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Naya Kang, Dorje Lakpa, Gaanchenpo, and Annapurna.

The east-west Langtang Valley lies between the Langtang Himal and the Kangjala. We will have a scenic drive from Kathmandu that leads to the large village of Dhunche. The trail passes between ridges and tributaries along with villages to Thangshyap. As you explore the Langtang National Park, you will trek through the rhododendron forests. The trail passes through the north of the gompa to high points such as Tserko Ri for magnificent views. We have to walk for an average of 6-7 hours per day over steep and hilly trails that will lead up to peak altitudes of 5000 meters at Tserko Ri. As such, decent physical fitness and prior trekking experience are helpful for this trek.

Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Reception Welcome at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (1 300m/4 260ft).

Day 02: UNESCO World Heritage Sites Included (Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhu, Boudhanath) Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour   OR   A day at leisure. Trek preparation.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu – Dhunche (1 950m/6 440ft), 7-8 hrs

Day 04: Trek Dhunche – Thulo Syabru (2 230m/7 350ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 05: Trek Thulo Syabru – Lama Hotel (2 470m/8 100ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 06: Trek Lama Hotel – Thangshyap (3 200m/10 500ft), 4- 5 hrs

Day 07: Trek Thangshyap – Kyanjin Gompa (3 870m/12 700ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 08: Kyanjin Gompa: Rest and acclimatisation day: Tserko Ri exploration

Day 09: Trek Kyanjin Gompa – Lama Hotel (2 470m/8 150ft), 7-8 hrs

Day 10: Trek Lama Hotel – Briddhim (2 230m/7 310ft) – Syabru Besi (1 440m/4 750ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 11: Trek Syabru Besi – Kathmandu (1 300m/4 260ft), 8-10 hrs drive

Day 12: Trek Final Departure: Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight to your next destination.

Itinerary

After finishing passport, immigration and visa requirement formalities, our guide and representative receives you for short transfer to your hotel. The shedule for this day is afternoon free, evening a welcome dinner, where you will enjoy special Nepali taste with typical Nepali cultural performances. introduction to your guide and a briefing on the trek with a check on necessities and overnight at hotel.

After morning breskfast our city guide will take you for a day tour around Kathmandu valley including five of cultural world heritage sites: Swayambhunath, the popularly known as “monkey temple”; the city’s historical Durbar Square with ancient temples, unique art and architecture as well as the Kumari (living goddess); Patan’s Durbar Square; the Hindu temple Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath, the world’s largest stupa. If time favors we may visit nearby temples, monastery and museums as well. Over night at Hotel In Kathmandu.

The Northern Highway is from Kathmandu through Middle Hill forest and farmland to cross the Tadi Khola at Devighat near its confluence with the Trisuli Nadi from Tibet. It passes through rhe northeast up the Trisuli Valley to Betrawati, towards Ramche and ends in Dhunche. We will stay overnight in Dhunche.

The trail follows an ungravelled road ascending about 2hrs through rhododendron forest to Thulo Bharku (2 140m), a small Tamang village. We will enjoy lunch in an apple orchard, with great views of the Ganesh Himal and ranges to the NE along the Tibetan border. Beyond, the trail contours around a hill before descending gradually to the Tamang heritage village of Thulo Syabru. We will stay overnight in Thulo Syabru.

Today’s trail passes below the village ridge to U Kang before going down along the Langtang Khola north to the Tibetan border. At a T junction, we will turn east (right) onto a narrow trail high above the south bank through oak, rhododendron and bamboo forests. Forest wildlives include numerous birds, grey langurs, red pandas, wild boars, Himalayan black bears and so on.
At Bamboo (1 930m), the trail crosses to the northern side of the stream we will climb to the split-village of Renche (2 400m). The path then ascends to Changtang and the Lama Hotel. We will stay overnight in Lama Hotel.

The trail goes steeply through mixed rhododendron, oak, hemlock and maple forest. Later, we will drop back to a quaint teahouse at the river and climb to the hotel-settlement and army post of Ghora Tabela (2 970m).
Beyond is the broad, U-shaped valley carved by the Langtang, Shalbachum and Lirung Glaciers. We will climb the hillside through forest and terraced fields of Thangshyap. We will stay overnight in Thangshyap.

From Chamki (3 300m), we head Ghumba (3 400m, with an interesting gompa). Water driven prayer wheels are the main attractions of this village of Langtang (3 430m) in the lovely valley which is the former headquarter of the National Park..Langtang Lirung (7 227m/23 712ft) is north of the trail.
After an ascend to a ridge beyond the former village and a long mani wall on the trail to Mundu (3 440m).Then, we walk down to Sindum (3 280m) and descend to a huge boulder and bridge at the river. The trail takes to Yamphu (3 640m) and drop to cross the Laja Chu beneath a glacial moraine. From the top, we can see great views of the icefall from the Langtang Lirung and Kinshung Peaks. Ahead is Kyanjin Monastery. Then, we will climb a final ridge and descend to the village below it. After lunch,we will explore the village and gompa. We will stay overnight in Kyanjin Gompa Village.

There is a scheduled acclimatization day. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) experts recommend at least 24 hr. To keep active we should climb high and sleep low.
The trail ascends on Tsergo Ri (5 000m, at the top) which overlooks the impressive glacier from Langtang Lirung (7 227m) with great views of Kinshung (6 781m) and Yansa Tsenji (6 567m). Towards the W, Dorie Lakpa (6 966m), Ganchenpo (6 387m), Dshabu Ri (5 202m) and Urking Kanggari (5 863m) are prominent peaks. To the North East, some 5km beyond the border is landmark Shisha Pangma (8 027m/26 335ft), China’s only 8 000m peak. A trail south of Kyanjin leads to the difficult pass over the Ganja La (5 130m, frequently snow bound) to Helambu.
We will return to the teahouse for lunch exploring the Kyanjin Valley and glaciers. We will stay overnight at the teahouse.

We will come back to Langtang enjoying the views on this easier walk. We will stay overnight in Lama Hotel.

After breakfast, We will drop down to Renche (2 400m) and follow the northern trail that climbs gently away from the river to the substantial village of Syarpa Gaon (2 600m). Beyond Bhanjyang Gaon (2 440m), the trail swings north to Khangjum (2 290m) to meet an old salt-trade route from Tibet.
We will walk north to Briddhim for lunch taking breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal to the northeast and closer views of peaks along the Tibetan border. We will move down to Wangal (1 600m) beyond which a spur overlooks the split village of Syabru Besi and the confluence of the Langtang and Bhote Koshi rivers (forming the lower Trisuli Nadi). We will stay overnight in Syabru Besi.

We will cross to the western bank of the river; and Lower Syabru Besi, to board your jeep for a 15km trip that crosses the Trisuli Khola and zigzags over hills to Thulo Bharkhu and on to Dhunche. From there, we will travel through the better road leads back to Kathmandu and your hotel. Rest of day free.

This is the day for departing but it is a start for other visits! You are leaving this small heaven; missing the life and time you spent here. You will fly back to your destination/home taking memory of the country of Lord Buddha. Nature Heaven Treks and Expedition will be with you to drop off at the Airport/Bus Station. We must plan to reach airport about 3 hours for boarding and customs purposes.
